Rob regards crime, education and immigration as three of the most important issues facing both Reading East and the country as a whole. Rob is committed to serving local people, he comments: "Unlike the local Labour Party I represent Reading East in Westminster and not Westminster in Reading East."
Rob takes a keen interest in education issues, whether in his role debating education policy on the Education Select Committee in Westminster, or taking up the cases of local parents with the Local Education Authorities.
Rob has helped many constituents with housing problems and pressed for a Night Shelter for Reading
Rob meets regularly with the Police to discuss matters ranging from anti-social behaviour to the issues of knife crime and drug dealing. Taking a proactive approach to the crime problems that exist in the constituency.
Earlier this year Rob uncovered evidence of the systemic failure of the Home Office to deport illegal immigrants involved in coordinating criminal activities, leading eventually to the sacking of the Home Secretary.
